Real is a photo-sharing community built around one rule: the photos in the feed were actually taken by a camera, not generated or substantially altered by AI. We back that up with community reporting and human moderation rather than an automated detector.

Posts compete within a Monday-to-Sunday week. The main feed ranks posts using a blend of recency and likes, so a good new photo doesn't get buried under older ones. The leaderboard ranks the same week's posts by like count alone.

The weekly champion is whoever tops the leaderboard once a week ends. The crown badge shows up right on their profile.

Explore is different: it isn't scoped to the current week at all. It holds every visible photo ever posted on Real, so if the feed or leaderboard looks empty, that just means nothing new has gone up this week, not that the site is empty. Search or browse Explore any time to see the full archive.

Anyone but a post's author can flag it as suspected AI-generated content. Flagging hides the post from the public feed while it's reviewed. Reports are anonymous: the author is never told who reported them.

The author can contest a flagged post, which moves it to review by a moderator. The moderator resolves it as either cleared (restored to the visible feed, and permanently immune to being reported again) or removed. If a flagged post isn't contested, it stays hidden.

You can edit a post's caption, photos, and gear links only while it's still visible and has never been reported. Once a post has been reported, even if it's later cleared, it stays locked to protect the reporting and review process.

When you attach gear labels (camera, lens, and so on) to a post, they render as links to an Amazon search for that label. These are affiliate links: a resulting purchase may earn Real a referral commission.

It's open to bugs, feature ideas, or anything else on your mind, and an admin reads every submission. You'll need to be signed in first, so a submission can always be followed up on.
